Although it is a fun challenge to see what kind of pizza you can come up with when you have a largely-bare pizza pantry, it is not something you want to make a habit of. If you own a pizza oven, you need to make sure that you have stocked up on many of the core ingredients. Ideally, you want to aim for products that do not go out of date (there are not many) or those that you can freeze for a long time.

As long as you have some of the basics, you should never be in a position where you’re not able to cook up some kind of pizza when needs (or stomach groans) must. Check out a handful of ideas of the types of pizza ingredients you can keep stored for a long time in your pizza pantry.

Ooni Dough Balls

One of Vaani the Vegan’s favourite sayings is “If you don’t have balls, you’ll never make it as a pizza cook”. Now, you could construe that statement in a couple of ways. You either lack the courage to try something different, or you just don’t have a stock of Ooni Dough Balls in your pizza pantry for the times when you need to cook up your latest 12” pizza.

Ooni Dough Balls are pre-made pizza dough balls designed to make it easy and convenient for home cooks to make their own pizzas. They are typically made with high-quality ingredients, including organic flour, water, yeast, and salt, and are designed to be versatile and easy to use, allowing for a wide range of toppings and cooking styles.

Ooni Dough Balls are often sold in packages of six or twelve and are stored in the freezer for freshness. To use, simply remove from the freezer, thaw, and shape into a pizza crust. Essentially, they are a perfect companion for your pizza pantry!

Dried Herbs and Spices

Did you know that there is nothing stopping you from stocking up on as many dried herbs and spices as you like? They will not go out of date (at least for decades) and as long as they are stored in an airtight container, will rarely lose flavour or potency.

That means you’re free to fill your pizza pantry to the brim with this stuff. Of course, we would not suggest you go overboard. Instead, just make sure you have an ample supply of popular pizza herbs and spices such as dried oregano, basil, and garlic powder. If you have your own favourites, add those in as well!

Pizza Sauce (preferably homemade)

Did you know that pizza sauce freezes amazingly well? Sure, it will not last forever in a freezer, but if you store it correctly, it can last many months. You can do this with any pizza sauce, even the type that you buy ready-made from stores.

However, as you know (as a newly-crowned pizza expert), homemade pizza sauce is just better in every way. It is healthier and tastier and thus makes your pizzas so much tastier and so much healthier. Besides, anyone that owns a pizza oven but still uses pre-bought pizza sauce is kinda missing the point.

To store pizza sauce so that it lasts longer, simply use airtight freezer bags. Air is your enemy when it comes to freezing anything. Get all that air out, store it, and then thaw it out whenever you need some amazing sauce for your next pizza!

Now you’re rocking!

With the above, you at least have the dough, sauce, and some spices. As long as you have plenty of fresh toppings and cheeses in your fridge, you’re good to go. Oh, don’t forget the extra virgin olive oil too, sacrilege making a homemade pizza without some of that to drizzle on!
