Another ingredient often used, and one that will have most Italians cringing, is the most commonly used sauce for American pizza. If you are already a pizza chef of sought, you probably already know what we are talking about. The one that comes straight from a can! This often goes against the Italian tradition of using homemade sauce. However, you might be surprised to learn that some people prefer the canned sauce ingredient! 

Differences in the Preparation

Italian pizza is usually thin-crusted and baked in a wood-fired oven, which gives it a unique flavour and texture. It is typically cooked for a short amount of time at a high temperature. For that reason, more time is taken to prepare the dough and the ingredients. The ultimate aim is to create a delicious pizza that is crispy and full of flavour. 

On the other hand, American pizza is thicker and has a softer, more doughy crust. It is often baked in a conventional oven and can take longer to cook. That is not to say that you cannot cook American Pizza in a wood-fired pizza oven. Differences in Cultural Significance

Which is Better – Italian or American Pizza?

Well, that comes down to preference. Besides, there is nothing wrong with liking both styles of pizza. Sure, Italian pizza focuses more on quality ingredients and flavours, but there is still a lot of pleasure to be found when biting into an American Pizza that is fully loaded with cheese and toppings.
